The Jordan Panthers were poised to make a run in the playoffs last season after winning the Moore League, but bad fouls and silly mistakes spelled an early exit. Last night at Millikan some similar mistakes had the Panthers headed for a Moore League loss, but sophomore Isiah Hicks sparked a 10-point comeback and his layup with a minute left tied it up. Two free throws from Jesse Jones proved to be the game-winner, 68-66.
Millikan’s Malcolm Whittington, who led all scorers with 28 points (11 in the fourth quarter) had a chance to tie it but couldn’t get the runner to drop. Football star Alden Darby added 19 points for Millikan, but the fourth quarter belonged to Jordan as 6’7″ Darius Williams added 16 points in the paint and the Panthers wore down the Rams.
