The Wilson Bruins competed in the CIF Team Finals on Thursday at Rancho San Marcos Golf Course (Par 71) in Santa Barbara, CA.

The field was comprised of the 21 best teams in the CIF Southern Section.  Each of the teams earned a spot in the team finals by finishing in top three at one of the seven CIF Team Divisional sites earlier in the week.

The top four teams from the CIF Team Finals advance to the SCGA/Southern State Regional Tournament. The Wilson Bruins finished in a tie for sixth place with a team score of 390. The Bruins score of 390 was one shot out of finishing in fourth place and earning a spot in the SCGA/Southern State Regional Tournament.

Servite High School won the event with a score of 381. The Friars finished one shot ahead of Beverly Hills who was the runner-up at 382. Great Oak finished in third at 388. Westlake tied for fourth at 389 with finished La Quinta, however Westlake won the tiebreaker on the 6th players score 85 to 87 to finish in fourth and advance to the next round of team competition.

Wilson junior, Jake Hutton, posted the second best score on the day amidst the field of 126 talented golfers. Hutton shot a one under par round of 70, which was only bested by one player in the field; Patrick Cantlay of Servite High School shot 69. Shane Lebow of Santa Barbara High School also shot 70. These three were the only golfers to post under par rounds in the event.

Other Wilson scores on the day: Andrew Morgan (78), Boris Stantchev (79), O’Neill Cowan (79), Scott Parkin (84), and Adam Oser (87).

The CIF Individual Tournament begins next week on Monday. Hutton, Stantchev, Morgan, Cowan, and Parkin will all be competing in the CIF Southern Individual Regional on Monday at Skylinks Golf Course at 7 AM. They earned exemptions into the CIF Individual Tournament by finishing in the top six at the Moore League Tournament last week.
