Seniors dominated on the pitch for Cabrillo yesterday in the Westside Tournament as the Jaguars ran away from Gahr, 5-0. Wilfredo Mejia got the hat-trick in a hurry as he scored the first three goals.  Cesar Sanchez had a penalty kick goal and Marvin Figueoa added a final goal for the blow out win.

Even though the Jaguars were only up 2-0 at the half—with thoughts of Monday’s collapse in the final 10 minutes vs. Mayfair dancing in their heads—Cabrillo dominated throughout and out shot Gahr, 19-3.  Mejia provided a comfort margin on an assist from Fernado Arroyo early in the second half.

Rafael Valenzuela and Edgar Martnez combined for an uneventful shutout in goal, while Geo Cazzal assisted on Mejias first 2 goals and has 5 assists for the season.  Every Jaguar got in the game and the team was able to get quality minutes ahead of a long road trip on Thursday to La Quinta Palm Springs.

Cabrillo (3-0-1) has now scored 13 goals and given up only three.  The final game in the Westside Tournament vs. Santa Monica is next week as the Jaguars hope to continue the unbeaten streak.
