The Cabrillo boys’ soccer team continued to cruise early in the season as they took care of Lawndale with a huge second half, 4-1. The Jaguars are now 2-0 and have outscored their opponents 7-to-1.
Following a scoreless first half where Cabrillo out shot and out played Lawndale, the Jaguars opened the floodgates. In the fifth minute of the second half Wilfredo Mejia scored his 2nd goal of the season off a nice pass from Fernado Arroyo. Twelve minutes later Jose Vaca scored from a Diego Rivero feed.
Cabrillo continued to dominate possession and was rewarded when Mejia returned the favor to Arroyo on a nice pass that lead to a thunderous left footed blast from 22 yards that beat the goalie to his left. After Cabrillo made subs in the 70th minute and Juan Conteres of Lawndale scored a nice goal form the top of the 18. Armando Padilla scored a fluke goal when a ball banked off his bank and trickled in the net in minute 77.
Play continues in the Westside Tournament next Tues for each team.
