CIF DIV. 1 BASEBALL PLAYOFFS
Lakewood vs. Thousand Oaks @ Blair Field, 3:15pm

The Lakewood Lancers have been ranked with the best in the nation since the beginning of the season, but all of that doesn’t matter now.  The second season has started and Lakewood opens at Blair Field this afternoon against the #4 seed from the Marmonte League, Thousand Oaks.

The green Lancers hit the ball a ton and have 20 home runs in 28 games.  They lean heavily on (#17) senior Cody Thompson who does it at the plate and on the mound.  The 6’2″ 220lb outfielder has seven home runs and a team-high 23 RBI to go along with a 4.38 ERA and 54 strikeouts.  Thousand Oaks does strikeout a lot and has racked up 153 lonely walks to the dugout to just 89 walks drawn.

Lakewood could send both senior Jeff Yamaguchi and sophomore Shane Watson to the hill to slow down the Thousand Oaks attack.  Either way, the red Lancer offense needs to keep the momentum rolling from their 11 run, 14 hit victory over Poly last week to wrap up the Moore League title.

Yamaguchi (.471, 42 RBI) Anthony Razo (.465, 42 RBI) J.P. Crawford (.404, 12 2B) and Hunter Jones (.438, 33 SB) are the key to the Lakewood offense, and a Lakewood first round victory.
