It wasn’t pretty, or particularly convincing, but Poly got what they needed out of Friday’s second-round CIF game: a win, as they took a long bus ride and narrowly edged Knight, 57-55.
The Rabbits—who were heavily favored to win, and handily—were up six at halftime, and led 42-33 after three quarters. But Knight played their way back into it in the fourth quarter, scoring 22 and forcing Robert Nixon to bail his team out with some clutch free throw shooting. As expected, the advantage was inside, as Ryan Anderson and Roshcon Prince led Poly with 12 points each.
It will be another long haul for Poly on Tuesday, as they’ll have to travel on the road to play Los Osos.
