A whopping 98 miles from home, the tournament’s fourth-seeded Millikan Rams came out victorious with a 68-55 win over the Quartz Hill Rebels.  It was back and forth in the early going, with the Rams notching a lot of transition scores and playing too soft on defense, allowing a lot of close buckets.  The Rams pulled away in the third with that relentless transition attack.

Leaders for the Rams were Ashley Mitchell, with 24 points, Hilary Drinovsky with 12 points and 10 boards, and Candice Menifee, with six points and 14 rebounds.  “She did a great job of keeping their big girl off the boards,” said coach Lorene Morgan, in the midst of a long bus ride home after the game.

The win moves Millikan to the second round, where they’ll be hosting Los Osos this Saturday at 7:30pm.
