In a total team effort, the Wilson Bruins pulled together on the road to defeat the host Schurr Spartans, 67-55. The Bruins got out to a fast start, going up by four after the first quarter, and by eight at halftime (they held the Spartans to just nine points in the second quarter).
Leaders for Wilson were Ciarra Ford, with 21 points (including 11/16 free throw shooting), five assists, and five steals; Tiffany Bailey with 18 points and a game-leading 13 boards; Long Beach State-bound Jazmyne Porter poured in 16 as well. At one point the Bruins’ lead was up to seventeen points in the third quarter, and it never got into single digits in the second half.
Wilson now moves on to host Cajon on Saturday, at 7:30pm. It will be a tall order, as Cajon is ranked second in the bracket.
