Lakewood @ San Clemente, 7pm
Both the Lancers and Tritons are coming off of big first-round sweeps. While Lakewood took care of Thousand Oaks, San Clemente dominated Great Oak, 25-21, 25-18, 25-13.
Coach Rob O’Rear has one of his best teams this year as the Tritons steamrolled though the South Coast, finishing 10-0, and 19-8 overall. The San Clemente attack is led by junior outside hitter Molly Yoder, who leads the team with 220 kills. That’s an average of over 10 kills a match in which she played more than one set, including a 22 kill performance last month against Capo Valley.
The big story is still the rotation shift that Lakewood coach Mike Wadley put in for the playoffs. By moving Taylor Hollins to the middle and Chrissy Tuua to the outside, the Lancers now have a big swinger at every attacking position. Hollins will have to keep tabs on six-foot sophomore Stephanie McFadden, who leads San Clemente with 27 blocks.
