We’ve got a few more things (and links) to all the stories surrounding this semifinal between the Chargers and Lancers.

– We could be in for a long one on Saturday night. Both teams are going to throw the heck out of the ball (which will obviously keep the clock at a crawl) and it’s the only game on Fox Sports West. That means the 7:30pm game will actually kick off closer to 7:45pm after Patrick O’Neal the other JJ get done running their mouths. Add in all the extra commercial breaks and we might not get out of the OC till early Sunday.

– There are a bunch of inspirational stories in every high school football game, and this semi is no exception. Check out this story on Edison offensive lineman Luke Gane. His seven-year-old brother saved his life. Pretty special.

– This is the first football game between these two school’s, but don’t underestimate Lakewood coach Thadd MacNeal’s familiarity with Dave White and the Chargers. After almost a decade as offensive coordinator at Los Alamitos and playing Edison every year, MacNeal might be the first coach in the history of football to actually expect the unexpected–and know what he’s talking about.

– Lakewood has been here before. This is the second-straight semifinal for the Lancers, and if you don’t remember how close they were to beating Poly last year in front of 12,000 Moore League fans, refresh your memory.

– Maybe the most recruited player on the field Saturday will be Lakewood captain Jesse Scroggins. After taking over the starting job his sophomore year, Scroggins has grown up while leading the Lancers to new territory. Check out this story on Scroggins.

– Okay, Lakewood fans. I know you want to see that victory over Poly one more time. Go ahead, indulge.

– Even if he doesn’t hear “Justin Utupo” over the loudspeaker in the first few series’, don’t fret Lancer fan. The kid has a motor that will not quit. He’s made most of his big plays in the second half this year, and we don’t call him “Big Game Utupo” for nothing. Here is a feature story on the Notre Dame-bound defensive end.

– The Chargers are the best team the Lancers have seen since traveling to Crenshaw in Week Zero. This game could be a lot like that one. Check out the video.

– There are two games that you should know about. Edison vs. Servite and Edison vs. Los Alamitos. Both games were blowouts in the fourth quarter, but both were much closer than the final score. They could be a blueprint for a Lancers victory.
