Compton put questions about the evolution of their running game to rest in week one, running for almost 500 yards against Bloomington.  Then last week, in a rivalry game against Dominguez, who they hadn’t beaten in two decades, they won a tight contest, by a score of 12-8.  So the question for their third contest, against Kennedy, was which team would show up: the offensive powerhouse, driven by an unstoppable running machine, or the defensively oriented team that could win a field goal battle?

Uh…it was the first one.  Compton rolled to an easy 59-12 after jumping out to a 46-0 lead at halftime.  As usual, it was their running backs who powered the fireworks, as the team rushed for 461 yards, and seven touchdowns (with another added through the air).  Starter Curry Williams didn’t have to do much, getting 82 yards and a touchdown off of only three carries.  Six other Tarbabes carried the ball, with two of them—James McConico and Byron Walker—getting over 100 yards.  McConico had three scores on the ground, and caught the touchdown pass.

All told, the Tarbabes’ 461 yards came on just 26 carries, for an average of over 17 yards per carry.  What else can I say?  Look out, Moore League—they’re coming for you again.
