On Wednesday night, the Long Beach State Crew Team will be taking over the patio area at Acapulco in Long Beach. The Crew Team is starting an Alumni Board to help in fund raising efforts and spreading the word about the most successful club team at Long Beach State.
“Last year, I was Captain of the Women’s Team and I saw that there needed to be change in the fundraising efforts in order for the team to continue to be a success,” says Elena Delgado, who will effectively become the first class of alumni on the board.
“Through out my four years of rowing, I’ve met so many amazing people through the sport. Past rowers needs an avenue in which they can stay connected and help the team. The primary responsibility of the Alumni Board will be to take over the responsibility of fundraising for the Crew Team. The two other major goals will be to keep past rowers connected and promote the history of the team. Long Beach Crew Team has honestly been a turning point in my life for the better, and I want to make sure that the opportunities within this team are secured for future rowers to come. Each year, expenses for the team have risen, and I feel that no one should have to sacrifice being on the team due to the financial burden.”
Even if you have no prior connection to the team, or even the sport of rowing, come out to Acapulco on Wednesday, and come back to LBPostSports.com this fall for all the news on the Long Beach State Crew Team.
