10:00pm |  Joey Terdoslavich hit a solo home run to cap off a great day of baseball at Blair Field for the annual alumni game and intrasquad scrimmage. The alumni kicked off the day by facing each other in the morning, and then the intrasquad game featured nine former Dirtbags making their way through the professional ranks.

Angels pitcher Jered Weaver took the mound to start off the day, setting down the side in order along with a strikeout in the first inning of the nine-inning contest. After freshman Nate Underwood repeated the feat in the bottom of the second, Long Beach State’s second side got on the board after a double by Kirk Singer, who then scored on a RJ Santigate single to make the score 2-0.

With the score 2-1, Washington Nationals pitcher Marco Estrada went through a one-two-three inning in the top of the third, and became the winning pitcher after the Long Beach State starters scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Jonathan Jones reached base on a walk, and back to back singles by TJ Mittlestaedt and Terdoslavich got a run home, and then the first error of the day scored another run as the home side took a 3-2 lead.

The Dirtbags’ home side scored five more runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away, with the big hit coming in a three-run double by Jones.

The final tally ended 10-4 as Joey Terdoslavich cracked a solo home run over the right field wall in the ninth inning, the second of just two runs allowed in three innings of work by freshman Eddie Magallon

Along with Terdoslavich and Jones, senior Steve Tinoco went 3-for-4 with two doubles and single with two RBI for the home Dirtbags. For the road side, Singer was 2-or-4 with a double, a single and two runs scored while Santigate had a single and a triple to go with a run.

Prior to the scrimmage, many former Dirtbag greats took the field for the alumni game, finishing at Noon. Long Beach State’s next action comes in the season opener, when the Dirtbags host Pepperdine at Blair Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 19.
