10:00pm | Fresh off of the Leadoff Dinner, where Seattle Mariners pitcher and former Dirtbag Jason Vargas was the keynote speaker, Long Beach State baseball continues to march towards the season with the Alumni Game and Intrasquad scrimmage this Saturday, January 30.
Long Beach State welcomes back its veterans from all eras back to Blair Field this weekend as the Dirtbags host the Alumni Game at 11 a.m. Following the conclusion of that contest, Long Beach State’s 2010 baseball team will take the field for a scrimmage beginning at 2 p.m. Admission is free to both events.
The alumni game and intrasquad scrimmage finish up Long Beach State’s preseason events. Jason Vargas was the keynote speaker at the 2010 Leadoff Dinner where Long Beach State introduced this year’s squad. Also coming up this weekend is the Ninth Annual Golf Tournament, held at Recreation Park Golf Course next to Blair Field, starting at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 29.
The Dirtbags begin their season in earnest on Feb. 19, when they host Pepperdine at Blair Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
