The Compton Tarbabes book ended halftime on Friday night with two huge scoring plays on the way to a 52-34 victory over Centennial.
After the Tarbabes had failed to punch it in from the four-yard line, Compton defensive back Josiah Marshall picked off Centennial quarterback Nelson Gammage and took it back to the house with 12 seconds remaining in the half.
Coming out of the locker room, the Tarbabes extinguished any chance of a Centennial comeback when Roger Jones took the second-half kickoff back 92 yards to extend the Compton lead to 26-10 and effectively end the game.
Eight different running backs touched the ball for Compton, but James McConico (14 carries, 129 yards, 2TD) and Jones (10 carries, 107 yards, 2TD) led the way as the Wing-T was in full effect and got stronger as the game got longer.
Compton will take on rival Dominguez next week at home.
