The Jordan Panthers have been the walking wounded for the last three weeks after losing their team leader and starting quarterback/safety John Timu.  The good news after Friday’s game is that no Jordan player left with injury.  The bad news was that the Oaks Christian Lions we’re nearly unstoppable in the first half on their way to a 42-7 victory.

“We came out healthy, that’s the biggest thing,” said Jordan coach Scott Meyer. “They had some big plays and that put us in a hole… we saw a lot of good things from some guys out there that hadn’t been out there before.”

Because of all the injuries some young Panthers took the field, and players like new punter Tyler Baldwin and sophomore running back Dominick Bell really impressed the coaching staff.  Quarterback Keith Nixon scored the Panthers lone touchdown in the second half.

The Panthers will return to Long Beach and Moore League play next week against Millikan in a game that could could involve fourth place in league and playoff implications.  “We’re shooting for much higher than fourth place.  We got better tonight… just trying to build on the experience.”
