Have you ever seen those beautiful classic cars cutting through traffic on a weekend afternoon?  You find yourself wanting that car, but you don’t realize how much work it takes to get that machine started every morning.  The 2009 version of Lakewood football is just like that vintage roadster.  It takes awhile to get started, but once it’s going, it’s one of the most beautiful things on the road.

The Lancers only mustered 19 points in the first half, but at the end of the night the score reflected the domination as they defeated Cabrillo, 61-8.

Quarterback Jesse Scroggins was sick this week and backup Tyler Schultz got the start.  The junior only threw the ball five times but was 5-for-5 with three touchdowns.  Terrance Woods and Rashad Wadood carried the load in the backfield.

Lakewood got their points in the first half when Dion Bailey added an interception.  Scroggins did come in with almost two minutes left in the first half and led a 70-yard touchdown drive to make it 19-0 at the break.

Lakewood will take on Jordan and Cabrillo will play Wilson next week.
