This all seems so far away from Lakewood 61, Compton 0.  This time, it was the Tarbabes hanging 61.

The Compton Tarbabes are still missing three offensive starters in the backfield due to injury.  So what would they do last night against Cabrillo?  Give it to the one starter still lined up behind the offensive line in that wacky Wing-T formation.

Senior running back James McConico returned to form after struggling last week against Lakewood.  He carried the ball 12 times for 277 and four touchdowns as the Tarbabes took home the victory 61-19.

Said Compton coach Calvin Bryant after the game, “yeah, he was just McConico tonight.”  But in true Bryant fashion, he added, “we have a lot to work on to keep getting better.  When we get healthy, we’re going to be tough to defend.”

On defense the Tarbabes held the Jaguars down for most of the night, and had two defensive touchdowns, one of which was a interception returned for the score from defensive lineman Melvin Lewis.

Compton will play Wilson next week while Cabrillo will face Lakewood.
