The Jordan Panthers traveled to Beverly Hills last night for their season opener and dominated from the opening whistle on their way to a 34-7 victory.

Jordan quarterback— and last year’s Moore League MVP— John Timu got the night started right with a 73-yard touchdown pass to Joseph Lee on the first play from scrimmage.  Timu finished the night with three more rushing touchdowns (10 carries, 81 yards) while he and the Panther defense picked up where they left off last year.

“It took us a drive to get going,” said coach Scott Meyer.  “But once we settled in we really got after them.”

The Panthers maintained their pressure style, blitzed a lot, and racked up nine sacks while continually forcing Beverly Hills to punt on fourth-and-a lot more than ten.  Just like last season’s win over the Normans, the hard-hitting Panther defense knocked out running back Kenny Bassett in the first half.  The Beverly Hills offense never recovered, and the Panthers cruised to victory.

They return home to J-Town next week to take on Pasadena.
