10:00pm | With Mark O’Meara, Paul Goydos and John Mallinger paving the way, Brett Lederer has become the newest 49er on the golf scene as he qualified for this weekend’s Northern Trust Open, Feb. 4-7, at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades.
Lederer finished in second place at the Northern Trust Open Monday Qualifying on the Eisenhower Course at Industry Hills Golf Club. Lederer won on a playoff by carding a 68 and a birdie on the second playoff hole to obtain one of three qualifying spots for the Northern Trust Open.
Lederer is scheduled to tee off on Thursday afternoon around 1:20 p.m. and on Friday morning at 8:40 a.m.
Lederer was a four-year letterwinner at LBSU under former head coach Bob Livingstone. While at The Beach, Lederer closed out his stellar 49er career having played in 40 tournaments with 11 top 10 finishes and a stroke average of 73.2.
In his sophomore year, Lederer helped the 49ers clinch their first Big West Conference championship since 1973 and second postseason appearance at the NCAA West Regional in Sunriver, Ore.
In Lederer’s final season at LBSU, he won the individual title by three strokes at the 2007 Big West Conference Championships in Rancho Santa Margarita with a 12-under 204.
