While most sports fans feel like they’re in the middle of the deadest offseason of the year right now, the truth is that Hall of Fame season is in full swing.  Last month, Long Beach sent thirteen players to the bigs via the MLB draft.  This Saturday, the major leagues send some players back.  The Long Beach Baseball & Softball Hall of Fame—the only city-run athletic hall of fame in the city—will induct 14 new members at Blair Field and Joe Rodgers Park, seven of them with MLB experience.

The 14 newest members will be honored this Saturday, July 26, in a ceremony beginning at 4:30pm.  They’ll also be introduced on the field at Blair prior to the 7 o’clock Armada game against Calgary.  Among the names included are standout players from local high school and colleges, as well as coaches and a few scouts.

The baseball inductees will be Lou Berberet, Eddie Brockman, Dick Cole, John Gonsalves, Greg Harris, Roger Jongewaard, Jim Pagliaroni, Jack Salveson, and Tommie Sisk.  The honored softball inductees will be Bob Bomar, Maxine Davis, Russ Fendley, Bob Osborn, and Carla Williams.
