In this installment of The562.org’s Classics video series, we look back at the redemption of the Jordan High boys’ soccer team in the 2016 CIF Southern Section Division 2 semifinal.

The Panthers were battling for Moore League championships five years ago and hosted consecutive semifinals in 2015-16. After choking away the first opportunity, Jordan got itself back into the finals for the first time since the 1990s with a 2-1 victory over Rancho Verde.

This game was a perfect example of what made this program so successful as Jordan came out the more aggressive side. The Panthers scored an early penalty kick and a cheeky go-ahead goal early in the second half. They then held off the visiting Mustangs with stout defense worthy of a championship berth.
