The returning Moore League Player Of The Year John Timu will miss the rest of his senior year with a knee injury. We talked to coach Scott Meyer today, and he confirmed that Timu suffered an ACL and meniscus tear on Friday night.
“It was very hard to tell him, it’s something you don’t want to do,” said Meyer. “He had worked so hard for his senior year… but I told him it’s good it happened early in the year because now he has time to rehab the knee, get in shape and go play at the next level.”
Timu verbally committed to the University of Washington over the summer, and it’s likely head coach Steve Sarkisian will not pull the scholarship from the talented Timu.
But while Timu heads to rehab, the Panthers head towards a stretch that sees Dominguez, Poly, Oaks Christian, Millikan and Lakewood.
“We have to find new ways to be creative on offense and score,” said Meyer. “This week isn’t a must win because we have league right around the corner, but we have to play well. We have to.”
Meyer said he might send in as many as three different quarterbacks on Friday, including receiver Keith Nixon and running back Princeton Fuimaono.
