In this episode of Straight From The Roof it’s locals only as JJ goes around the horn, talking Lakers/Clippers/Kings.. It’s easy as 1, 2, 3…….
LOS ANGELES LAKERS
1) Last night Laker Nation collectively wiped the brow after it took overtime to take care of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Yes, the Thunder. It was inconsistency on defense, and the “Kobe & The Gang” show on offense. It was like watching the Rudy Tomjanovich-led LakeShow. Yes, I forgot and had to look it up to spell it right…
2) Every person who scoffs at the Ariza/Atrest deal, go back and watch the last play of regulation. Case and point. It’s a good deal. Not the best, but good for this team…
3) If you’re freaking out and screaming, “the Thunder?!?!?! Are you serious?!?!?!” just take a deep breath. Without Pau Gasol this is the, well, it’s the Rudy Tomjanovich-led LakeShow. Everything is going to be okay…
LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS
1) If you weren’t exhausted on Monday night after baseball and football, you got to see a great Clipper game that ended in the team’s first win of the season. And hey, the Timberwolves are no joke…
2) Click here to read Lawler’s Law. That’s right, the best sports commentator in Los Angeles (we don’t count Vin Scully because he’s the best ever) is letting you know how he feels in his own column that’s on Clippers.com. He’s talking about substitution patterns and stats that don’t make the box. It’s good stuff…
3) All joking aside, the Clippers are going to be a very fun team to watch this year if they can stay healthy. Is there a giant block of wood I can knock on? I guess if we’re being honest, that’s what she said…
LOS ANGELES KINGS
1) After maybe their worst period of this young season, the Kings rebounded and played some of their best puck on Monday to comeback and beat the Coyotes, 5-3. The goals were not spectacular, but the energy and pressure the Kings showed is what could win them the Pacific Division. They have now won 9 of 15 games and are a point behind the Sharks…
2) That third period is what Frozen Royalty fans have been waiting for. Waiting for a very long time, that is. The ad campaign on FSN is the same message it’s been for like five year: We’re young, we’re exciting, we could be good… come on, give us a chance…
3) But, the only way the Kings will have a chance is if GM Dean Lombardi puts something (money / a big midseason signing) where his mouth is…
