The Long Beach City College baseball team suffered a 10-3 loss to visiting Irvine Valley College on Tuesday at Joe Hicks Memorial Field in an opening game of a three-game non-conference series.

The Vikings had the bases loaded with two outs in the ninth, but IVC reliever Austin Alva was able to get Randy Guite to ground out to end the ball game.
Guite led the Vikings at the plate, going 3 for 5. Cory Buchheim was 2 for 5 with a RBI double in the eighth and a run-scoring single in the ninth. Kenny Uyetake (2 for 4) plated the Vikings other run with a ninth-inning RBI single.
Jared Smith took the loss for LBCC to fall to 1-4. He allowed seven runs and seven hits in just 4 2/3 innings.
