Five days after losing for the first time this season, the Long Beach City College men’s volleyball team bounced back with a 3-0 non-conference win over visiting San Diego City College at LBCC on Wednesday night.

The Vikings swept the match, 30-20, 30-15, and 30-16 over San Diego City (0-6) to improve to 6-1. All six of LBCC’s wins have been three-game sweeps.

“We needed a win like this after that tough loss last week,” said LBCC head coach Randy Totorp. “I think the loss woke them up because the guys played with a lot of intensity tonight.”

Sophomore outside hitter Chuck Chamberlain had a good all-around match with seven kills, five aces, and three blocks.  Freshman outside hitter Torand Cheltenham chipped in with seven kills and six blocks, and freshman middle blocker Fidelix Ojo added seven blocks and five kills.

Long Beach returns to action with an exhibition match at Hope International University on Saturday at 7pm.
