
The Long Beach City College softball team has been named the No. 6 seed for next weekend’s Southern California Regional Playoffs. For the second straight season, LBCC will host Los Angeles Mission College (No. 11 seed) on May 2-3 in the best-of-three opening round of the postseason.
Long Beach closed the regular season last week by finishing third in the South Coast Conference with an 11-7 record. The Vikings will take a 31-12 overall record into the postseason. LBCC has qualified for the playoffs in 18 of the last 19 seasons.
L.A. Mission was champions of the Western State Conference Blue Division with a 17-5 record and is 29-9 overall.
The winner of the series will take on either No. 3 Mt. San Antonio and No. 14 Antelope Valley in the Super Regionals on May 9-10.
