The No. 5 state-ranked Long Beach City College women’s water polo team rolled to an easy 13-1 South Coast Conference win over visiting Pasadena City College on Wednesday at LBCC.

 

The win improved Long Beach to 16-1 overall and 5-0 in the SCC while Pasadena dropped to 6-11 and 3-2 in conference play.

 

Sophomore Kimmy Morrison opened the game with three straight goals and Long Beach led 5-0 after the first quarter.

 

The Vikings stormed ahead 9-0 before Merry Sanders scored Pasadena’s lone goal with 4:34 left in the third.

 

Morrison closed the contest with four goals, and Long Beach got two goals each from sophomore Kimberly Briggs and freshman HollieMickelson. Sophomores Katie Shea and Adrienne Taylor, as well as freshmen Alexandria Blank and Jessalyn Salas also chipped in with single goals.

 

Sophomore Chelsea Datt posted 10 saves in the win for Long Beach. PCC’s Hannah Hogue totaled six saves.

 

The LBCC women’s water polo team returns to action this Friday (Oct. 16) at Golden West College when it will face its toughest competition of the season. The Vikings will take on top-ranked Riverside and No. 3 Golden West in a one-day mini tournament.
