LBCC’s women’s golf team was 88 strokes behind first place in its first Foothill Conference match of the season on Wednesday at the Woodhaven Country Club in Palm Desert.
Palomar, led by individual medalist Beth Sellers, won the event easily with a 312 card, with Desert (368), Mt. SAC (373), and LBSU (400) following behind. Mt. San Jacinto had no team score.
Cynthia Camp shot 95 to lead the all-freshman Vikings team. Kris Mar shot 98, followed by Lauren Serge. Mary Beth Ives (107), Leslie Cayson (110), and Rebecca Schlarb (111).
LBCC opened the season August 30-31 at the South Coast Classic tournament in Ventura. Serge led the Vikings with a two-round 189 (97-92). She was followed by Cayson with 240 (116-124) and Schlarb with 246 (125-121).
Last weekend the Vikings were in action at the two-day Desert Classic tournament at the Indian Canyon Golf Course. Mar led Long Beach with a two-round card of 173 (90-83). She was followed by Cayson with 200 (111-89) and Schlarb with 222 (107-115).
The women will be back in action next Wednesday, September 23, playing host to a five-team Foothill Conference at El Dorado Golf Course.
