Down 6-1 halfway through the second period, Long Beach State would tie the score twice, last at 9-9, but a final goal by the Anteaters let No. 13 UC Irvine slip past the 49ers 10-9. Sophomore Krizia Cerda scored five goals for Long Beach State, a season-high for the team and a career-high for the Florida native.

The 49ers had a 7-7 tie after three periods, but UC Irvine scored twice to take a 9-7 lead. Long Beach State battled back with a pair of goals to tie the match at 9-9 with 2:46 to play, but UC Irvine’s Caitlin Haskell scored on the next possession for UC Irvine, and the 49ers couldn’t tie the match in the remaining time.

Cerda, the 49ers leading scorer on the season had five goals to lead all scorers, while Kristen Stragiermade 13 saves, but despite a strong effort from the club in the rivalry game the 49ers were unable to complete the upset.

Long Beach State will play host until the NCAA Tournament for the rest of the season, playing CS Bakersfield in the final regular season match for the 49ers at Noon on April 17 before holding the Big West Tournament the following weekend.
