Heading across town to No. 1 USC, the 49ers were outmatched in an 18-4 loss against the Women of Troy on Thursday. Kristen Stragier made nine saves for Long Beach State.
USC star Forel Davies scored six goals as the Women of Troy raced out to a 7-0 lead after the first quarter and took a 10-1 lead going into halftime. With the score 17-1 after three, Lauren Sieprath scored pair of goals in the final period as the 49ers outscored USC 3-1 in the fourth.
Long Beach State starts Big West play on the road Saturday at Cal State Northridge, and then returns home to play No. 2 Stanford at Noon on Sunday.
