It was a long time coming, but last night’s 12-1 thumping of the Fullerton Titans was worth the wait. This 49er squad has known all season long they were capable of this breakout game, and the win marks the third in a row for the Beach.

Special teams have been incredibly effective during this streak as the power play is 10 for the last 22 including an impressive 7 for 9 last night while the penalty kill unit has allowed only one goal in the last 21 chances. The Beach was a perfect 9 for 9 against the Titans on Saturday. Goaltending has been solid as well with the tending tandem of Ricky St. Louis and Alex Miklovic posting a goals-against average of 1.33 over the last four games. Forechecking and backchecking have been fierce and aggressive wearing down the defenders and attackers.

Next weekend the 49ers will have their hands full with a pair against San Diego State in San Diego on Friday then in Lakewood on Saturday at 7:30pm. There will not be a broadcast for Friday’s game, but you can catch Saturday’s on www.lbsuicehockey.com.
