Long Beach State recorded an opening round score of 23-over par 307 on Sunday afternoon at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, S.C., as the 49ers finished the day tied for 13th place with No. 46 Central Florida at the par-71, 7,261 yard Bulls Bay Golf Club.

Twenty-ninth ranked LSU currently leads the field of 15 teams with a 288 (+4) as the Tigers hold a one-shot lead over No. 31 Duke and No. 34 Wake Forest with a 289 (+5).

Senior Robbie Berton and freshman Raymond Ho led the 49ers as both players carded a four-over 75 in Sunday’s opening round to tie for 32nd. Berton started the round at even-par on the first hole and scored an eagle at the par-five, 597 yard No. 2 hole, but would then record a bogey and double-bogey on the next two holes. Berton collected four birdies for the day, with six bogeys and two double bogeys. Ho recorded just one birdie for the round while collecting five bogeys.

Senior Steve Gibson tied for 48th with a 77 (+6), followed by sophomore Kevin Roy tied for 67th with an 80 (+9) and freshman Benjamin Lein tied for 71st with an 82 (+11).

Matt Hill of North Carolina State sits on top of the leaderboard at 68 (-3) and holds a one-stroke lead over Travis Wadkins of Wake Forest and Sang Yi of LSU at 69 (-2).
