
Long Beach State jumped out to an early lead winning the first set, but USC took over and cruised to 31-33, 30-17, 30-19, 30-25 win in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Thursday night.
The Beach (10-11, 7-9 MPSF) struggled all night hitting just 0.66 with 39 errors. USC (14-6, 10-5 MPSF) hit just .240 but got 20 kills from Troy Murphy. Dean Bittner had a team-high 12 kills for the 49ers, while freshman Srdjan Nadazdin, playing for injured All-American Dan Alexander, added nine kills. Dustin Watten added 15 digs.
LBSU returns to action at No. 3 Pepperdine Saturday night.
