The LBSU Men’s Rugby team came up short this past weekend, losing to the University of San Diego, 22-18.  Long Beach State went into the game looking for a win but was unable to close the door on USD as two sure tries were overturned. The pressure on the field was palpable as a young LBSU suffered another loss of composure late in the match that allowed USD to hang around and eventually take the lead 22-15 with 15 minutes to go. LBSU Fly Half Geoff Pound would counter with a drop goal from 40 meters out with 5 minutes to go to make it 22-18, but Long Beach came up short in the final minutes of the match. Closing out their regular season with three matches in seven days, LBSU ended the season ravaged by injuries. The team now looks forward to a long offseason of recuperation and recruiting.
