The Long Beach State women’s soccer team (4-4) will head to Loyola Marymount on Friday, Sept. 25, for its final tune-up before opening Big West Conference play next week. The 49ers and the Lions will square off at 4 p.m. PT at Sullivan Field.

“We knew coming into these games that we needed to win two of three,” said coach Mauricio Ingrassia after training this week.  The Beach is coming off a split as it defeated Pepperdine (3-1) at home before dropping a 2-1 decision at San Diego State last weekend.

“We played well in the second half in San Diego, and we need another one of those this week against Loyola.  On offense, we’re still really missing Karina Camacho (who is still sidelined with a knee injury) and on defense, with moving Nicole Hubbard back there last week, we’re still looking for that chemistry.”

LBSU is looking for its first victory against Loyola Marymount as the Lions own a 2-0-0 record in the all-time series. The last time the two teams met was in 1999 with LMU pulling out a narrow 2-1 victory.

Loyola Marymount enters Friday’s match-up with a 5-3-1 record. Erin Rementer has paced the Lions with four goals, while Julie Gallaudet has recorded a team-leading five assists. Allyssa Clark has manned the net for LMU, compiling 47 saves and a 1.06 goals against average.
