For the third year in a row, the Long Beach State softball team had eight players earn All-Big West honors the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Brandy Reyes and Liz Javier led the way, earning first-team accolades, while Taylor Petty, Jodi Nakawatase and Bree Stephan were second-team selections. Brooke Turner, Nalani St. Germain and Ashley Weber rounded out the group as they garnered honorable mention recognition.

Reyes, a senior from Moreno Valley, Calif., started 46 games, primarily at catcher and designated player. She finished the 2010 campaign with a .301 batting average, 40 hits, 21 walks, 19 RBI and eight doubles. Reyes also led the team with 12 multiple-hit games.

Javier, a junior transfer from Mt. SAC, was also a first-team selection after hitting for a .292 average with 11 runs scored and 11 RBI. The Downey, Calif., native started 45 games at third base and committed just four errors in 133 chances.

Petty, meanwhile, was one of three pitchers named to the All-Big West second team. She was tops in the conference with 135 strikeouts and led the 49ers with a 2.50 earned run average. The sophomore from San Pedro, Calif., finished the season with four shutouts, including two one-hitters.

Nakawatase wrapped up her senior campaign with a .254 batting average to earn her first all-conference honor. The Long Beach native also compiled a .985 fielding percentage as she had just one error in 66 chances.

Stephan was also a second-team selection as she finished her first season at The Beach with a .321 batting average, 27 hits and eight stolen bases. The Simi Valley, Calif., native was even better during Big West play, batting .393 with 22 hits and 10 RBI.

St. Germain also had a stellar freshman campaign as she earned honorable mention recognition. The Chino Hills, Calif., native was tops on the team with 37 runs scored and 25 RBI. She also ranks fifth in the 49er single-season record books with a team-best eight home runs.

Turner (Buena Park, Calif.) was also an honorable mention pick, earning her third career all-conference award. The junior pitcher registered a 2.79 ERA, five shutouts and 127 strikeouts. She ranks among the 49er career leaders in wins (58), complete games (65), appearances (97), shutouts (28) and strikeouts (521).

Weber was also named to the All-Big West team for the second year in a row. She closed out her career at Long Beach State with a solid season, compiling a .248 batting average, 39 hits, 17 RBI and 14 runs scored. She also ended the regular season ranked 13th in the nation on the toughest to strike out list.
