Senior Kenneth Medwood highlighted the second day of the NCAA West Preliminary meet for the Long Beach State track and field team as he advanced to the NCAA Championships in the 400-meter hurdles.
Medwood punched his ticket to Eugene, Ore., with an eighth-place finish in the semifinal round. He clocked in at 50.30 seconds, marking his second-fastest time of the season.
Junior Nicholas Armstrong recorded a lifetime-best 6-11 in the high jump, but along with senior Alex Black, was just short of coming in the top 12.
Senior Alex Freitas was also unable to advance in the 800m run as he crossed the finish line in 1:51.76.
Five 49ers will be in action on the final day of the NCAA West Preliminary meet on Saturday, May 29, at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
