Long Beach State’s Deborah Armstrong was named the Co-Big West Player of the Week after earning three victories, including two against No. 18 Washington on Sunday.

Armstrong started the week by picking up a win at No. 3 singles in a rain-shortened victory over Big West foe Pacific. She defeated Julia Hansen in three sets, recovering from a first-set loss to win 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.

The following day, Armstrong earned Long Beach State’s sole point in a 6-1 loss to No. 18 Washington, defeating defeating Lina Xu at No. 3 singles in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. She also teamed with Anais Dallarato win in doubles defeating Chan/Smith 9-8 at No. 2.

Armstrong is the first Long Beach State tennis winner of the weekly award from the conference this season, and the honor is the first of her career. She is a two-time All-Big West honoree in singles.
