In Long Beach State’s final regular season match, the 49ers won eight of nine matches on the way to a 6-1 victory over LM on the road.
Resting Anais Dallara as a precautionary measure for one more match, the rest of the team stepped up in the 6-1 win. Julie Luzar and Rachel Manasse won for the second straight day in doubles, helping clinch the doubles point with a 8-6 win over Razloznik and Morgan.
In singles, Julie Luzar, playing at No. 4 in place of Dallara, won a 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 match in a super-tiebreaker, following three quick wins as Hannah Grady, Rachel Manasse and Deborah Armstrong all won in straight sets.
Long Beach State remains the top seed for the Big West Tournament after posting an 8-0 record in conference play. The 49ers will play the winner of the play-in match between UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton in first round action at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. That match is set for April 17.
