Jaklin Alawi and Rachel Manasse defeated #30 Markhoff/Matzenauer of Cal Poly on the way to advancing to the Flight A Doubles championship match at the Fullerton Invitational. The pair was joined by Julie Luzar, who continued her stellar fall season with two more singles wins.

Alawi and Manasse picked up the big win of the day, defeating the Mustangs ranked duo of Markhoff/Matzenauer in their first matchc of the day, winning 8-6 and advancing to the semifinals. From there, the duo defeated Doane/Yang of Cal State Northridge 8-4 to advance to the tournament championship, where they will play another Cal Poly doubles team, this time facing Blalock and Wong, who defeated the 49ers other tandem in Flight A doubles, Deborah Armstrong and Anais Dallara 8-6.

The third Cal Poly pair got the best of the 49ers in Flight B singles, as Davis/Pane defeated Anna Jeczmionka and Luzar 8-4.

Luzar’s singles magic continued, however, beating Concordia’s Kristin Yep 6-4, 6-3 before defeating CS Northridge’s Brooke Doane in an exciting match 7-5, 7-6 (3). Luzar faces Joclyn Davis in the Flight B singles finals tomorrow.

In Flight A singles, the 49ers did not have the same success, as Deborah Armstrong fell in a three-set match to Diane Filip 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, and Jaklin Alawi and Anais Dallara both bowed out as well. In Flight B singles,Anna Jeczmionka lost to Davis 6-2, 7-5.
