The 49er track and field team is set to host the 19th annual Black and Gold Intersquad competition in conjunction with the third annual alumni meet Saturday, Dec. 12 at Jack Rose Track on the Long Beach State campus.

The day will begin with the sprint, hurdle and field events starting at 11 a.m. Current 49er student-athletes will be divided into two co-ed teams that will compete against each other, while the alumni will go head-to-head with their fellow Long Beach State graduates.

Post-event festivities will follow the afternoon’s competition at approximately 2 p.m., during which the alumni awards and the 2010 49er team captains will be announced.

The all-day event will conclude with the Twilight Distance Carnival, which is slated to get underway at 5 p.m.

The Beach kicks off the 2010 indoor season at the Pole Vault Summit (Reno, Nev.) and the Washington Invitational (Seattle, Wash.), Jan. 29-30.
