The Long Beach State women’s golf team closed out their fall season schedule tied with Tulsa for seventh place at the Turtle Bay Intercollegiate. The 49ers recorded a final round score of 23-over par 311 to finish 34 strokes behind team champion UC Davis.
Playing the final round at the par-72, 6,631 yard Arnold Palmer Course at the Turtle Bay Resort in Kahuku, Hawaii, the Aggies won by nine strokes over second place UCLA (877) and 11 strokes over third place Southern California (879).
Leading the way for LBSU was freshman Simone Hoey as she shot a five-over 77 in Wednesday’s final round to tie for 10th. This was her first top 10 finish of the year. Hoey finished the three-day tournament at two-over 218.
Coming in second for The Beach was freshman Reece Feducia as she tied for 26th with a six-over 78 to finish with at 11-over 227.
Junior Lindsey McAtee moved up in the standings from 38th to tie for 26th with a three-over 75. McAtee finished the tournament with a three-over 227.
Senior Brenda Chhuor carded an 81 for a 233 to tie for 51st, while sophomore Noelle Zavaleta shot an 11-over 83 for a 233 to tie for 51st.
The 49ers return to action when they host The Gold Rush, Feb. 8-9, 2010, at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, Calif.
