Long Beach State sophomore Noelle Zavaleta shot a four-over par 76 in Tuesday’s second round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the Sahalee Country Club to move up in the standings as she tied for 14th place. Zavaleta recorded an opening round of 78 on Monday to tie for 20th. She now has a two-day total of 10-over 154.
As a team, the 49ers slipped in the standings to 12th after carding a 329 in the second round. LBSU shot a 322 in the opening round to finish ninth.
California continues to lead the field of 13 teams as the Golden Bears (599) holds a 10-stroke lead over second place Stanford (609) and 14-strokes over third place Pepperdine (613).
Freshman Simone Hoey improved by one-shot as she recorded a nine-over 81 to tie for 45th. Hoey carded an 82 on Monday to tie for 49th.
Junior Reina Rogers finished the day tied for 50th with an 11-over 83 for a total score of 20-over 164.
Senior Brenda Chhuor fell from 38th to 62nd as she shot an 89 in the second round to finish with a two-round score of 26-over 170.
Freshman Reece Feducia (181) carded a 92 to finish in 70th.
Pia Halbig of California sits on top of the leader board with a two-over 146 and holds a one-stroke lead over fellow teammate Emily Childs (147) and two-strokes over third place Katrina Delen Briones (148) of San Jose State.
Final round action concludes on Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m.
