Krizia Cerda recorded a hat-trick scoring a game-high three goals to lead the Long Beach State 49ers in a, 8-5, loss to No. 6 Arizona State in a non-conference match Sunday afternoon at the Long Beach State 49er Campus Pool.

Cerda, who leads the 49ers in scoring with 22 goals, along with teammate Lauren Sieprath kept The Beach close for three quarters scoring goals early in each of the first three periods.

The Beach (4-11) trailed Arizona State, 4-3, late in the third period before the Sun Devils scored four of the next five goals to put the game out of reach. The Sun Devils (12-5), were led by Morgan Leech and Nikki Unbehaun who each scored two goals each for Arizona State.

The Beach got goals from three different players including Cerda, Lauren SieprathCourtney Elward.

Goalie Kristen Stragier had a game-high nine saves for The Beach.

Long Beach State’s next game is March 19 against Maryland at 11:00 am at the Cal Baptist Invitational. The 49ers also have a game later in the day at 3:30 pm on March 19 against Concordia.
