The Long Beach State women’s soccer team had three players earn All-Big West Conference honors for the 2009 season the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Midfielders Lindsay Bullock (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and Shawna Gordon (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) were named to the first team, while defender Chantel Hubbard (Torrance, Calif.) was a second-team selection.

Gordon, who garnered honorable mention recognition last year, finished the season tops on the team in goals (5), assists (5) and points (15), while also ranking among the Big West leaders in those three categories. The sophomore recorded her first career multiple-goal game on Oct. 4, scoring twice in the 49ers’ 2-1 victory over UC Davis. Gordon also tallied a goal and an assist in a 2-0 season-opening win against Fresno State.

Bullock was named to the All-Big West first team for the second straight year. She finished her junior campaign as LBSU’s leader in shots (48) and shots on goal (22). Bullock was also second on the squad with four goals and nine points. She netted the game-winners against Fresno State and Pepperdine, while scoring the game-tying goal in a 1-1 draw against UC Riverside.

Hubbard earned her first postseason honor after recording her first career points with four assists, three of which came off her flip throw-ins. The junior defender tallied a pair of helpers in the 49ers’ 2-1 win against UC Davis. She also anchored a young back line that finished the season with four shutouts.

Since the women’s soccer program was reinstated in 1998, The Beach has had 49 all-conference selections. This marks the fourth straight year that LBSU has landed more than one player on the All-Big West first team.
