Reports From LBSU

No. 40 Long Beach State plays its final two regular season matches this week, playing a pair of local opponents in Pepperdine and LMU.

Long Beach State (16-4, 8-0) will look to improve on its postseason resume with one more victory over a ranked foe, heading to Malibu to play No. 47 Pepperdine (9-12) in a match with NCAA Tournament implications for both teams as each vie for a potential at-large bid. That match will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 16.

After that match, Long Beach State will host their final home match of the year as the team welcomes LMU to the Rhodes Tennis Center on Sunday, April 17. No senior ceremony will be held with the match, however, as the 49ers have no seniors and just one junior on the 2010 squad.

Postseason play follows those two matches for Long Beach State. The 49ers clinched the No. 1 seed in the Big West Tournament with an 8-0 league record, and will start play against the No. 8 seed on the first day of the tournament on April 30, 2010 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
