In 2007, Long Beach State senior All-American Kay Hoey won the Fresno State Tournament for the second time in three years at Copper River Country Club.  On Monday, she recorded a three-under par 141 to tie for second place at the Fresno State Lexus Classic. Hoey and Alice Kim of UC Davis are just four strokes behind first place leader Miki Ueoka of Santa Clara.

Early yesterday morning, Hoey fired a three-under 69 in the opening round as she had five birdies and two bogey’s. In the second round, Hoey recorded three birdies in the afternoon session as she closed out the day with an even-72.

As a team, the 49ers are tied for fourth with San Diego State with a 25-over 601 (298-303), just 11 strokes behind first place San Francisco (590).

Freshman Lee Lopez carded a seven-over 151 as she’s tied with seven other players for 20th. Lopez shot a four-over 76 in the opening round to tie for 28th and came back with a 75 in the second round.  Sophomore Reina Rogers had an impressive opening round as she carded a one-over 73 to tie for sixth, but fell in the standings in the second round with a nine-over 81 to tie for 29th.

Junior Brenda Chhuor is currently tied for 38th with a 12-over 156, while sophomore Lindsey McAtee is tied for 54th with a 17-over 161
