Long Beach State has announced the hiring of Lindsey Romine as the Assistant Athletic Director of Development. Romine will be in charge of the Annual Fund as well as sport-specific fundraising programs for 49er athletics.

Romine comes to The Beach from La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad, where she was the Executive Director of the award-winning public school’s foundation. Charged with fundraising for the school, Romine raised over $1.2 million dollars for La Costa Canyon in her second year with the school, overseeing the Maverick Athletic Boosters, one of three sub-organizations which were under her purview, along with the Maverick Academic Boosters and the Visual and Performing Arts Boosters.

The Foundation was crucial in the school’s interscholastic athletics, which supports 15 different varsity sports that regularly place near the top of the San Diego Section and the Avocado League, and finished 11th nationally in the inaugural MaxPreps Cup competition. With Romine’s help, the foundation also helped La Costa Canyon fund annual grants for work within the school.

Prior to heading the La Costa Canyon Foundation, Romine worked for Integrated Sports Marketing, specializing in the development and operation of various celebrity and charity golf tournaments in the San Diego area.

Romine also completed her staff as Kyle Shawgo was hired in the vacant 49er Athletic Club Coordinator position. Shawgo was an annual fund assistant for the University of Minnesota for the last two years while completing his graduate degree.

Shawgo also assisted the Athletic Director at Kenosha Bradford High School in Kenosha, Wisc. while playing for the Carthage College men’s soccer team.
