Lakewood wins, 64-45, to force a playoff with Millikan tomorrow at Wilson at 5pm for the final playoff spot! Stay tuned for our full game writeups, as well as info about tomorrow’s playoff.
Millikan/Jordan: Panthers Pull It Out
By a score of 68-62, the Jordan Panthers pulled out another league win to give them sole possession of the league title. Millikan will now have to face Lakewood Friday night at Wilson at 5pm in a one-off to determine who gets the final playoff spot.
Millikan/Jordan: Rams Making It interesting
They’ve now closed the gap to 11, as they trail 53-42 after three. They held Jordan to just 12 points in the third. Now if Kierre Beverly goes off, it could get VERY interesting.
Wilson/Compton: It’s Official
The Bruins have pulled off the win, 72-55, to improve to 7-5. They’re guaranteed a playoff spot.
Millikan/Jordan: Rams Closing
It’s now 49-37, as the Rams have cut the Panthers’ deficit by 8.
Wilson/Compton: Looks Like Wilson
It’s 55-41 Bruins with five minutes left in the game. If they win, Millikan loses, and Lakewood wins, all three of which seem like likely outcomes, the Bruins will have sole possession of third, and Lakewood/Millikan will play tomorrow evening for the final playoff spot.
Wilson/Compton: The Mike Wilder Show
Wilder scored nine in the third quarter to make the score 48-41 Bruins–he has 24 points total.
Wilson/Compton: Separation?
The Bruins just got three trey’s in a row from Wilder, then Josh Bell, then Wilder. It’s 45-37 Wilson.
Millikan/Jordan: Panthers Running Away
The Panthers are pounding the Rams on offense, it’s 41-29 at the half.
Wilson/Compton
Zoom says Compton’s Sims just threw down the sickest dunk of the year, a two-hand tomahawk off an inbounds pass. 36-32 Bruins.
Lakewood/Cabrillo: Looking Lakewood
This is the game it all hangs on–if Lakewood wins tonight we’re guaranteed a playoff tomorrow. At halftime, the Lancers are up 37-14. So, you know, don’t make any Friday plans.
Jordan/Millikan
A patented Panthers offensive spurt led them on a 8-2 run to make the score 30-20.
Jordan/Millikan
The Rams won’t quit, and are hanging in there down four at 22-18.
Wilson/Compton
It’s 27-24 Bruins at the half! Mike Wilder leads all scorers with 15, while Compton’s Cliff Sims has 11 points and 5 boards.
Jordan/Millikan
After one quarter, the visiting Panthers are up 19-13; if they win, they take the Moore League title outright. If not, they’ll be named co-champions with Poly, and a coin flip will decide who gets the number one seed.
Wilson/Compton
All tied up at 12-12 after the first quarter. Strong D presence from Compton led to only one Wilder touch after the midway mark.
Wilson/Compton
Halfway through the first, Wilson’s up 9-7; Mike Wilder has scored all of their points.
PLAYOFFS TOMORROW?
A very good chance it happens. According to Moore League secretary Jim Lineberger, there are a few scenarios in which league teams will have to play tomorrow to decide who’s going to the CIF playoffs.
Because Wilson and Millikan are tied at 6-5, and Lakewood is at 5-6 (Jordan and Poly are guaranteed spots), here’s what could happen:
If there’s a three-way tie at 6-6, Millikan automatically gets third place because they’re 3-1 against Lakewood and Wilson. Lakewood and Wilson would play tomorrow for the final playoff spot. If Lakewood wins, Millikan loses to Jordan, and Wilson beats Compton, Wilson would have sole possession of third, and Millikan and Lakewood would play tomorrow to decide who gets the final spot.
We’ll update you on time/location, but Lineberger says the game will be free no matter what!
